Forest County Probation Is Supervision
The Forest County probation office provides post-disposition supervision under Pennsylvania's 37th Judicial District. Probation can be imposed instead of a term of confinement or can follow a confinement component. Either path differs from a jail release record. A probation entry can identify the sentence, office, and supervision phase, but it does not prove that the person was ever held in a jail, which facility held the person, or when a physical exit occurred.
Forest County's official site does not identify an operating county jail or contract jail. That makes the distinction especially important. A local probation case should not be used to infer that the Sheriff's Office detained the person or that SCI Forest was involved. SCI Forest is a PADOC state prison. The probation department is a county court service. The physical custodian, if one existed, remains the best source for admission and discharge records.
Verify Forest County Probation Records
Start with the legal record. The Pennsylvania UJS Case Information portal can show Forest County bail, disposition, sentence, confinement terms, probation portions, filings, and later orders. Search the proper court level, choose Forest County, and compare the person's name with a case number, OTN, date of birth, or other lawful distinguishing information. A Magisterial District Court docket may show the preliminary stage. Common Pleas handles felony and misdemeanor disposition and sentencing.
- Find the Forest County docket and read the exact sentence and disposition language.
- Identify whether probation was ordered alone, after confinement, or as one part of a larger sentence.
- Call the local probation office to confirm the correct supervision office or public-information route.
- If confinement occurred, ask the Sheriff which physical facility held the person.
- Obtain the actual custodian's discharge record before stating a precise community-release time.
Use exact labels. A probation start may follow processing at a jail, begin without a jail stay, or coexist with another case. If the docket says time served, another warrant, detainer, or commitment can still continue custody. The Forest County release search and records guide explains how to reconcile the court, custodian, and PA SAVIN layers for a named person.
Note: The sentencing docket supplies legal authority, while the holding agency supplies the operational exit time and destination.
Forest County Probation Records Contact
The department's main office is on the second floor of the Criminal Justice Building in Tionesta. The county publishes weekday hours and a Monday evening access point at the Marienville District Magistrate Office. Those evening hours are useful in a rural county, but they should not be treated as a promise that another person's protected supervision details will be disclosed. Call first and ask which records or public-information channel applies.

The office can help route an inquiry about county probation after disposition. It should not be asked to certify a PADOC parole release, a federal supervised-release term, or a jail's movement record. Each system owns its own data. A correction to the court docket belongs with the issuing court, while an error in a physical discharge record belongs with the custodian that created it.
What Forest County Probation Records Show
Public court information can establish whether the sentence includes probation and may show its ordered term along with other case events. The probation office may confirm the proper office or procedure for information that can lawfully be shared. Neither source should be converted into a public list of everyone under supervision. Access can also be affected by juvenile confidentiality, sealing, expungement, limited access, and other legal restrictions.
| Source | Proper use | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| UJS docket | Disposition, sentence, probation portion, and later court orders | The exact time a person left a jail |
| Forest County Probation | Correct local supervision office and applicable inquiry route | That the person had no other hold |
| Physical custodian | Admission, movement, destination, and discharge record | The full meaning of every court sentence |
| PADOC parolee locator | State parole Release Date, location, and applicable status | County probation or a county-jail release |
| PA SAVIN | Event notification from a reporting jail, prison, or parole source | A complete historical supervision record |
A past probation order also does not prove current status. A term can end, a later order can change it, or a violation may produce new action. Use the most recent official record and preserve its retrieval date. When a public docket is missing, first test spelling, court level, case number, and OTN before drawing a conclusion. Protected cases may not appear in public search.
Forest County Probation Versus Parole
Probation and parole can both involve community supervision, but they arise through different paths. Forest County probation comes from a court sentence and belongs with the local judicial system. State parole follows release from a PADOC sentence before the judicial maximum and is governed by the Pennsylvania Parole Board and state supervision structure. The public PADOC parolee locator may show a Release Date, Current Location, Permanent Location, District Office, Last Updated Time, and a possible wanted parole-absconder flag.
The PADOC inmate and parolee locator gateway is for state prisoners and parolees, not Forest County probation cases. A parolee Release Date is an actual state-parole release field. It is not a projected date and does not mean the sentence ended. An absconder flag describes a later supervision issue and does not erase the fact of an earlier release. The Pennsylvania Parole Board's official agency site explains the state parole process, but the research found no public statewide hearing calendar or searchable decisions database.
- Probation
- Court supervision that may be imposed without confinement or after a confinement term.
- State parole
- Conditional release from PADOC confinement before the sentence maximum, subject to state supervision.
- Discharge
- The end of the applicable sentence or supervision obligation, which is different from release to parole.
- Detainer
- A hold that may prevent community exit or lead to custody despite action in the visible case.
Forest County Probation Court Records
Forest County has two local Magisterial District Court offices. District Court 37-4-93 is at 526 Elm Street #7 in Tionesta and publishes 814-755-3579. District Court 37-4-03 is at 271 Oak Lane in Marienville and publishes 814-927-8585. These courts may hold preliminary and bail records. The Forest County Court of Common Pleas handles felony and misdemeanor disposition and sentencing, including probation portions.
The county's official District Court page identifies these local offices. Forest and Warren share the 37th Judicial District, but shared judicial administration does not prove that one county's jail held the other county's defendant. A Forest docket explains case authority. The Sheriff can help identify a local holding custodian. The named facility then confirms physical movement. Keeping those layers distinct prevents a court-service arrangement from being mistaken for evidence that a specific neighboring prison held the defendant.
For a certified sentence or correction, use the issuing clerk. For a probation-office routing issue, use the county probation contact. For a release timestamp, use the physical custodian. A single office cannot amend or certify the others' data. This data-owner rule is especially useful if the docket, notification, and facility records use different dates or terms.
Forest County Probation Release Evidence
A clear release timeline keeps court action, physical movement, and supervision start as separate events. For example, a judge may impose time served plus probation. The legal order can be entered before the custodian finishes discharge processing. The probation phase can then begin after the person leaves, but a separate hold might stop community exit. Each date can be accurate within its own record.
When confinement is uncertain, begin with the docket and ask the Sheriff to identify the holder. Request the holder's admission, discharge, movement type, and destination fields. Check PA SAVIN if the event is recent, but treat it as a notice rather than the final record. If the person was sent to PADOC or another authority, follow that receiving system. Do not label transfer as release, and do not label the start of probation as the precise jail-exit time.
The same caution applies to a no-result. A name may be misspelled, the wrong court level may be selected, data may lag, or access may be legally limited. An old release or probation record also cannot prove present freedom. Current status may change because of a new warrant, case, violation, or custody authority. State only what the current official source and its scope establish.
Note: For Forest County, the most reliable sequence is court sentence, actual-custodian discharge, then the correctly identified supervision office.
